Patrick A. Ward, II - Co-Founder

Patrick Ward is a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), a certified personal trainer and performance enhancement specialist through National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), a USA Weightlifting-Certified Club Coach. He is also a former competitive Olympic weightlifter. He grew up in Lyndhurst, just outside of Cleveland, OH, where he played High School Baseball for Notre Dame Cathedral Latin. He is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion.

Patrick's professional experience working with a diverse clientele ranges from training for general health, rehabilitation, to athletes who want to take their abilities to the next level. Prior to founding Optimum Sports Performance, Patrick was a top-level fitness and human performance coach in New York City, where he also conducted seminars and clinics for fitness professionals, covering topics such as program design, periodization and assessments. He has served as a strength and conditioning consultant for various athletes of all ages and status.

David Mayo - Co-Founder

Dave has been working in the fitness industry since 1996 when he started out as a head trainer at Powerhouse Gym in Daytona Beach, FL.  Dave worked as a clinical researcher at the University of Pennsylvania as a clinical researcher in rheumatology/neurology for 6 years, training clients on nights and weekends before leaving the University in 2006 to pursue sport-specific training full-time.  His areas of focus are speed, agility and conditioning.

Dave has worked with a variety of populations, from a scholastic wrestling coach all the way up to the senior athlete.  Dave believes you get what you put in and expects his athletes to live by this.

Ivonne Berkowitz - Co-Founder
M.S., NSCA-CSCS, NASM-PES, CISSN, USAW Club Coach

Ivonne Berkowitz brings over five years of professional experience in exercise and nutrition. She holds a Masters degree in exercise science and health promotion and is a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), a Performance Enhancement Specialist, and a USA Weightlifting-Certified Club Coach. Ivonne is also certified in sports nutrition through the International Society of Sports Nutrition.

After embarking on a successful career as a web and graphic designer and author in South Florida, Ivonne chose to make a lifestyle change which ultimately prompted a change in her career path as well. She began as an in-home personal trainer on South Beach before moving to New York City, where she established herself as a fitness and nutrition coach in the Upper East Side. In 2006, she moved to Chandler, AZ to continue her education, and collaborate with Patrick and Dave on building the OSP dream.

Ivonne's role within OSP is primarily as a health and nutrition educator for our athletes and clients. She also offers private and small-group classes covering topics such as nutrition optimization for performance and weight management strategies for the general population.
