The OSP system is about optimizing performance. Paramount to this is injury prevention. While most sports have different stats, all sports have one stat that is common among them, Games Lost to Injury (GLI). Coaches won’t typically look at athletes that miss games frequently, a good athlete is worth nothing if he is on the bench. Programs are designed specifically around the athlete, then the sport. This not only reduces injuries, it also allows the athlete to train more frequently, enhancing performance.

Once assessed, the athlete is given a program that enhances balance, power, strength, agility, flexibility, and conditioning. Dynamic movements, Olympic lifts, plyometrics, compound strength exercises, and stretching are just some of the methods used. Monthly seminars cover topics that athletes need to optimize performance. Since sessions are only an hour long, machines and isolation exercises are avoided, allowing the athlete to cover more advanced lifts.

Athletes are progressed to more specialized techniques as they become more proficient in the easier lifts. Once an athlete has learned their personalized dynamic warm-up and post-workout stretching routine, those portions are handled on the athlete’s time during monthly training sessions. This makes 20 more minutes available to work on more advanced techniques.

Finally, conditioning is handled on off days in the form of tempo runs. Tempo runs enhance recovery and improve movement technique and condition by working the precise muscles that an athlete uses during competition.

Don’t do more, do better.
